There are many new orthodontic systems that are used by dentists and braces specialists.  There is a place for most of them including Invisalign, which is a patented system of clear plastic retainers that are used to reposition teeth.  Why choose one system over another?

Invisalign loses the competition against High Speed Braces in the race to correct crooked teeth. Invisalign also is not as effective in controlling the actual tooth movements.  So why do dentists do Invisalign?  There are three reasons dentists choose to offer Invisalign:
1) Picky patients who "do not want braces".  They may think they are "too old" or they may feel "braces are for kids".
2) Invisalign is easier to learn because the office just takes a few molds and lets the lab do all the work.
3) Invisalign has a HUGE marketing budget and people ask for it because they see it on TV.

High Speed Braces (HSB) are a new competitor in the orthodontic arena. While this website is certainly biased and sponsored by the HSB program, there are many advantages that make HSB superior to Invisalign:
1) HSB is two or three times faster!
2) HSB is usually more cost effective.
3) HSB can offer superior results due to the increased control of tooth movement offered by the brackets.
4) HSB can be offered in cosmetic porcelain brackets which are barely visible, and while not an advantage we feel it at least puts the cosmetic concern to rest.

So why have so few people heard about High Speed Braces?  One reason is dental schools only teach the traditional orthodontic programs and are usually 10 years behind the present technology. Another reason is HSB uses more expensive bracket systems than traditional ortho so fewer dentists and orthodontists want to pay the higher overhead required.  Companies that offer "rapid orthodontic" products market them to dentists and not to the general public.  There are a number of competing orthodontic manufacturers which are selling excellent products that can all be used for HSB services.  One of the most popular orthodontic bracket choices for rapid orthodontic care is from GAC.
